We've been in the studio finishing the mix for the new CD. Everything's sounding really good. Patrick Klein has made this mix go very smoothly, and without issue. Thanks Pat!!
Rachel came back in and re-did just 1 vocal, and it was well worth it. She used the kind of "attitude" that I really know she has. We used a Telefunken M-16 tube mic for all her vocals. Her performance was truly atmospheric.
Some of Randy's arsenal of basses were unleashed throughout the session. Mostly the Fender '62 Jazz Bass, and Fodera Non-Reverse Thunderbird custom. Kronos amp was used throughout the album.
The drum sound is big, muscular, and precise the Phil Weiss way. Like a fine timepiece.
Keyboard parts were added by "The Doctor" Scott Treibitz. A fine Hammond B-3, Roland Fantom, and Yamaha 7' grand piano done very well in all the right places.
I played my '81 Love Rock through a pair of Wizard 4x12's driven by either a Wizard Modern Classic 100, or a Mike Morin P-100. I used my Tele to double a few parts with my Tonemaster setup. Eventide PitchFactor was the only effect I used. Telefunken mics again. Thanks guys!!
That's it. Back to the control room to finish up the album.

Hi, Randy Pratt here.
It's not often in life that you get an opportunity to go back and correct mistakes. I've beaten myself up over the years for allowing Sharks to break up in '94, leaving only a four song demo and a couple of dozen one-camera video shoots as proof of how high we'd flown. I'm sure that Rachel and David feel the same way.
This summer provided a rare chance for us to re-write history... with a happy ending! The end of August was when Rachel put her killer vocals on the ten completed tracks for the first Sharks cd!
Yeah, it's the record we should have made 17 years ago, but you know what? I think we're cooler now! At some point, you have to trust fate.
David had the task of producing thrust upon him and rose to the occasion like a champion. With meticulous eye for detail and an egoless sense of what was appropriate at every turn, he did a great job for us.
Patrick Klein (with assistance from Ariel Levine) and their world class skill made the whole affair go smoothly.
We still have to complete mixing and mastering, but it's with a sigh of relief that I announce... "Mission accomplished!" (no, really)
